A Place to Worship: The Deaf Way

Center for Education, Social Justice, and Advocacy

The Center for Education, Social Justice, and Advocacy (CESJA) was founded in early 2005 to address a number of barriers and challenges found within our parent Spanish-speaking community.

CESJA provides weekly educational and spiritual workshops on Sundays from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Workshops focus on learning American Sign Language, methods and techniques for meditation/reflection, and presentations on important topics related to Deaf Education. All of our workshops are conducted in Spanish. Our instructors include Leslie Gray, Harold Pleitez, and Dr. TOMAS GARCIA. Guest instructors are also provided by other organizations such as the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness and other partnering organizations. To find out the name of the workshop, as well as the Instructor's name, for a specific Sunday please check us out on our Community Calendar.

CESJA also provides advocacy services for parents of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children who may need more information concerning their IEP rights provided under the Individuals with Disabilities and Education Act.

For more information about our services, please call the CESJA main number at 310-357-1653 or email us at CESJA@hacofthedeaf.org
